As promised, here is the first of many fun Salsa dance events this summer. This Sunday, June 6th, from 1-4pm, join us for a Salsa Intensive Workshop - packed full of important Salsa essentials that will teach you how to look good on the dance floor and understand the music.

Joining us as special guest instructor is Stephen Tirpak, who has toured globally as John Legend’s trombone player. He will take you on a musical journey through the instruments most commonly heard in a salsa band. Stephen breaks down all of the instruments and builds a salsa song from scratch. Discover the clave patterns of the percussion section. Feel the anticipation of the bass. Understand the harmony and syncopation while the piano plays the montuno. This fun, informative and easy-to-understand class will reveal the mystery of the beat and next time someone asks you… dance on 1 or 2? it wouldn’t even matter! Stephen’s timing cd Deep In the Salsa will be available for sale at the workshop.

Plus, we will have a styling class (separate class for men and ladies) and a partnerwork class in which you will learn how to implement important techniques and body movement into your steps to achieve a “natural” and “suave” look in your dancing. This workshop is designed for beginning-intermediate level dancers.
